Case Study Workshop: Designing for Children with Disabilities (VA-INH) (Temp)

By

Case Study Workshop: Designing for Children with Disabilities

3 CPD hours

CSWs provide opportunities for future/continuous learning. This online CSW is suitable for OTs and other professionals interested in the area of housing adaptation & design for children with disabilities. This workshop is facilitated by two trainers with, where possible, complimentary skill sets (e.g. Children’s OT & Adaptations Surveyor).

A selection of children’s cases, sourced by Viva Access and/or the client, is reviewed and problem-solved within both small-group breakout rooms and the full-group main session room.

Facilitators assist the group(s) in identifying and exploring solutions to a range of salient issues such as client and family considerations, design options, safety issues, planning for the future and technical constraints.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • this is a workshop rather than a training course. Learning is entirely through the medium of casework.
  • cases focus on children with mobility issues, developmental issues etc – and not on children with behaviours that challenge.  Viva Access has a separate training course on “Adapting for Children with Behaviours that Challenge” which it will re-launch in 2025.

By

Report: The cost-benefit to the NHS arising from preventative housing interventions.

Report on a BRE research project which considers the cost-benefits of preventative home interventions by reducing the need for NHS treatment and reducing the subsequent need for reactive home adaptations in as many cases as possible.

Should be of interest to OTs, adaptations officers and grants departments – and to managers, policy makers and budget holders in particular.

A summary of the report is available free of charge HERE.

The full report is available to download from the BRE website for £30 – visit http://www.brebookshop.com/details.jsp?id=327646
