Case Study Workshop: Designing for Children with Disabilities
3 CPD hours
CSWs provide opportunities for future/continuous learning. This online CSW is suitable for OTs and other professionals interested in the area of housing adaptation & design for children with disabilities. This workshop is facilitated by two trainers with, where possible, complimentary skill sets (e.g. Children’s OT & Adaptations Surveyor).
A selection of children’s cases, sourced by Viva Access and/or the client, is reviewed and problem-solved within both small-group breakout rooms and the full-group main session room.
Facilitators assist the group(s) in identifying and exploring solutions to a range of salient issues such as client and family considerations, design options, safety issues, planning for the future and technical constraints.
PLEASE NOTE:
- this is a workshop rather than a training course. Learning is entirely through the medium of casework.
- cases focus on children with mobility issues, developmental issues etc – and not on children with behaviours that challenge. Viva Access has a separate training course on “Adapting for Children with Behaviours that Challenge” which it will re-launch in 2025.
